ดูเพศ
การดูเพศนกนั้นถ้าเป็นช่วงลูกนกตั้งแต่แรกเกิดจนถึงลูกนกมีอายุได้ 7 เดือนนั้น การดูเพศจะดูได้ยาก ซึ่งส่วนไหญ่จะดูเพศเมื่อนกมีอายุตั้งแต่ 8 เดือนขึ้นไป โดยวิธีจับตะเกียบซึ่ง ซันคอร์นัวร์ จะดูเพศได้วิธีเดียวคือจับตะเกียบตรงก้นของตัวนก ไม่สามารถดูที่สีสันหรือรูปทรงเหมือนนกชนิดอื่น
ดูอายุ
เราสามารถดูอายุนกจากสีได้โดยถ้านกอายุแรกเกิดถึงอายุประมาณ 4 เดือน นกจะมีสีเขียวพอพ้นขนสีเขียวก็จะค่อยๆ หลุดแล้วมีขนสีเหลืองซึ่งช่วงที่มีขนสีเหลืองขึ้นแซมนั้นจะอายุแระมาณ 6-9 เดือน หลังจากนั้นพอนกมีอายุตั้งแต่ 1 ปีขึ้นไปก้จะเริ่มลอกขนสีเขียวออกหมดกลายเป็นขนสีเหลืองทองทั้งตัว ซึ่งสามารถที่จะสังเกตุดูได้

อาหาร
อาหารของนกซันคอร์นัวร์จะมีอยู่หลายอย่างเช่นพวกเมล็ดทานตะวัน ข้าวไรมิเร็ต ข้าวเปลือก ฟักทอง มันแกว ฝรั่งเวียดนาม หัวแครอท แตงกวา ซึ่งเป็นอาหารธรรมชาติทั้งหมด อาหารหลักคือเมล็ดทานตะวันและนอกจากนั้นจะมีอาหารบำรุงเพิ่มอีกจำพวกผลไม้รวมที่สับเป็นชิ้นเล็กๆ ผสมเคล้ากันให้น่ากิน ให้กินวันละ 1 มื้อจะเป็นมื้อเช้าหรือบ่ายก็ได้ อย่าขาดต้องให้ทุกวันเพราะผลไม้จะมีวิตามินชนิดต่างๆที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อร่างกายนก และน้ำก็จะให้ทั่วไปแต่ภายใน 1 อาทิตย์จะต้องใส่ยาบำรุงผสมกับน้ำให้นกกินด้วยอาทิตย์ละ 2 ครั้ง
